BallonSTUDIO is seeking a full-time Residential Interior Architect & Designer to join our San Francisco studio.
Founded in 2003, BallonSTUDIO is a boutique interior architecture and design firm with a senior team of specialists. For 23 years, we have created private, livable, luxurious homes that are deeply personal and thoughtfully resolved. Our work brings together architecture, hospitality, and fine art to shape environments that feel refined, enduring, and fully tailored to the people who live in them.
We are seeking a highly organized, technically strong, and design-driven professional with significant experience in high-end residential design. The ideal candidate brings a refined point of view, strong architectural training, and the ability to move seamlessly from concept through documentation, coordination, and construction administration. This role requires both creativity and rigor, with a deep respect for detail, materials, collaboration, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Produce architectural and interior design documentation for luxury residential projects, including plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, interior architectural details, millwork details, and custom furniture drawings
Translate design intent into clear, thorough, and highly resolved drawing sets
Support projects through all phases, from concept development through construction administration and final installation
Develop space plans, finish palettes, interior architectural concepts, and detailing strategies aligned with the overall vision of each project
Coordinate interior architectural scope with furnishings, fixtures, lighting, materials, and custom elements
Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, contractors, fabricators, and vendors to support successful project execution
Review shop drawings, submittals, and field conditions to ensure alignment with design intent and quality standards
Participate in site visits, construction administration, and problem solving during implementation
Contribute to project organization, schedules, internal communication, and team coordination across multiple stakeholders
Interface professionally and thoughtfully with clients and project partners as needed
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in residential interior architecture and design
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field
Strong experience in high-end residential projects, including renovations and ground-up homes
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
Revit proficiency preferred
Strong understanding of construction documentation, detailing, millwork, materials, and coordination
Experience working directly with contractors, consultants, fabricators, and vendors
Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Highly detail oriented, proactive, collaborative, and self-directed
Ability to manage multiple moving parts with clarity, discretion, and professionalism
